Zelensky and Macron held phone conversation, France promised Ukraine a "powerful armored package"
On April 30, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, in which they discussed the situation at the front and defense assistance.
The Office of the President has stated this.
"The President of Ukraine informed in detail about the situation at the front and the prospects for its development in May-June. Separately, the head of state emphasized the priority needs of the Ukrainian defense forces," the message reads.
President Zelensky expressed his gratitude to President Macron for the defensive assistance already provided by France, and both leaders concurred on additional measures to bolster Ukraine's capacity in the defense field.
"The speed and specificity of the response are critical; it significantly strengthens our capabilities. We appreciate France's confirmation of providing our Armed Forces with a powerful armored package," Zelensky emphasized.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the preparations for the NATO summit in Vilnius, at which solid and certain decisions should be made regarding security guarantees for Ukraine, and the procedure for inviting the country to NATO should be initiated.
After a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, Volodymyr Zelensky said that France promised to hand over a "powerful armored package" to Ukraine.
For reference:
This is already the second telephone conversation between the leaders of Ukraine and France in the last two weeks. On April 15, Zelensky discussed with Macron the situation at the front and the visit of the French president to China.
France had previously transferred armored vehicles to Ukraine. For example, it became known in March that French AMX-10 RC wheeled tanks had arrived in Ukraine. And in January, President Macron announced that France was considering sending Leclerc heavy tanks.
