Russia launches six shellings on border settlements of Chernihiv and Sumy regions

At 3:00 pm on April 28, there were six additional instances of shelling of border regions of Chernihiv and Sumy by Russian troops, utilizing mortars and rockets fired from a helicopter.

The Ukrainian Operational Command "North" reports about this on Telegram.

Between 10:20 and 11:00 a.m., three hits from a 120–mm mortar were observed near Yeline Settlement.

At 11:03, four rockets from a helicopter were recorded near Leonivka Settlement, and two more impacts in Kostobobriv Village.

From 12:00 to 12:05, three hits from a 120-mm mortar were detected in the area of Vilna Sloboda Settlement.

Additionally, from 11:50 a.m. to 1:10 p.m., thirteen impacts from a 120-mm mortar were registered in the vicinity of Halahanivka Settlement.

Subsequently, from 1:10 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., four hits from a 120-mm mortar were noted in Leonivka Settlement.

Lastly, between 1:40 p.m. and 2:05 p.m., eleven hits from a 120-mm mortar were observed in Buchky Settlement.

"There was no information about losses among the local population or damage to civil infrastructure," the message reads.

On April 28, Russia launched another massive rocket attack against Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces have successfully destroyed 21 of the 23 X–101 and X–555 cruise missiles and two drones launched during the overnight Russian air raid. According to Commander–in–Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyy, the Russian forces initiated the attack at approximately 04:00 in the morning, utilizing Tu–95 strategic bombers deployed from the Caspian Sea area.

The substantial Russian missile strike against several Ukrainian cities resulted in the tragic loss of 19 lives in Uman, Ukrainka, and Dnipro. Three more fatalities were recorded in Kherson and Kharkiv regions, and a bridge in the Chernihiv region was destroyed.

A young woman and her three–year–old child were also killed in the attack on Dnipro.

In response to the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the need for further sanctions against Russia. At the same time, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba cited the incident as yet another reason for Ukraine to arm itself with F-16s.
