Solutions to win: interactive exhibition on Russian propaganda opens at Kyiv’s Golden Gate station

In Kyiv, an interactive exhibition, "True causes of war, or how Russian propaganda works," was opened in the Golden Gate metro station lobby.

What is the problem?

Every day we come across thousands of fake news, information leaks, etc. The infamous Russian propaganda has a precise and calculated system of influence on the human subconscious, as evidenced by millions of "zombified" residents of the Russian Federation.

Russian propaganda is generally distributed in at least 40 languages in 160 countries.

What is the solution?

An interactive exhibition, "True causes of war, or how Russian propaganda works," was opened in Kyiv's metro.

The goal of the project is to teach people to distinguish between manipulation and propaganda, to be able to protect their own information environment, and to debunk fakes. The exhibition will last until May 24, 2023.

How does it work?

Thirty posters that can be enhanced with the EdAR mobile application, granting users access to 3D models, audio, and video for a more enriched experience, are featured in the exhibition, available in Ukrainian and English.

The exhibition will also be held in Spain, France, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and other European countries. The project was created by the European Chornobyl Institute NGO and the "NotaYenota" initiative.

Ukraine is engaging in a grassroots strategy to combat the Russian propaganda machine. The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine is one of the first to be documented in real–time on social media, with TikTok "reporters" – referred to as "war–tokers" – providing coverage from the front lines, influencers' videos about the war going viral, and Instagram posts from troll factories attempting to justify the invasion.

Russia is actively disseminating targeted disinformation to repudiate news coverage and convince its people that the Russian regime is seeking to remove Nazis from Ukraine.

In response, Ukraine has launched an informational counterattack aimed at both mobilizing its population to support the resistance and obtaining substantial military support from the West.
