Ukraine's capital Kyiv becomes greener with new park construction

The construction of Sribnyi Kil Park is starting this week in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv.
Rubryka reports, citing the statement of the Kyiv City Council, that the plot of land with an area of 7.54 hectares is located between the metro stations "Osokorky" and "Pozniaki" and surrounds the lake of the same name as the park.
What is the problem?
Due to the massive construction of the capital, there are fewer and fewer plots of land with equipped paths for walks and recreation areas for children.
The metropolis needs more greening with parks and squares so that citizens can breathe clean air.
What is the solution?
Kyiv plans to create a modern embankment around the entire Sribnyi Kil Lake, installing lounge areas, a fountain, places for fishermen, sports simulators, areas for walks and rest, an area for walking pets, etc.
As Hryhorii Malenko, deputy of the Kyiv City Council and head of the NGO "Park Sribnyi Kil," stressed, since 2016, he and his team have been uniting people and systematically engaging them to create this park.
"We started with a simple idea of creating a park, which finally transformed into concrete results. Dozens of working meetings were held, hundreds of comments and suggestions from the community were processed, and the final version of the concept was approved," he said.
More than 50,000 Kyiv residents live up to 10 minutes from this future park. Based on this, the designers defined the essential elements of the park: a closed walking path, about two kilometers, around the lake with the possibility of getting on it from all sides of the park. All internal elements of the park are integrated into this walking route around the lake. The green zone should be multifunctional.

Children's playgrounds, sports and viewing platforms, and recreation areas should meet the needs of the broadest possible audience. The park will be inclusive, with unhindered access to the park for all population groups.

Hryhoriy Malenko mentioned that suitable facilities and locations would be made available to aid in Ukrainian soldiers' physical and psychological recovery.

The MP stressed that the park's construction will be carried out in six phases.

"The first stage involves planning the territory according to the project, arranging two entrance groups of the park, and building a transit path that can be used to walk from one metro station to another," MP Malenko said. "Retaining walls, stairs, and ramps will be installed, drainage systems of the entrance group will be installed, and communications will be laid."
The developers will also pave paths with shaped elements of the street furniture, carry out landscaping works, and install benches and urns in the construction zone of the first stage.
