Ukraine needs more weapons, not calls to “sit at the negotiating table” – top defense official

The goal of the Russian Federation remains the same — it is the destruction of Ukraine, so the country needs more weapons, not "pro-Russian peacekeeping."

Oleksii Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, believes so.

"When the goal of the Russian aggressor remains unchanged – the destruction of Ukraine, the initiatives for a peaceful settlement that have been heard recently are nothing more than pro-Russian peacemaking.

Don't try to put us at the negotiating table – give us enough weapons. Weapons are the best mediator and the only understandable argument for communication with the Russian Federation," the head of the National Security and Defense Council emphasized.

It should be noted that Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto spoke in favor of bringing Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table with the mediation of China.

The minister expressed the opinion that "China should be an interlocutor at the negotiating table."

" I would like Europe to play a bigger role in trying to douse water on the fire. Because you're great at pouring gas, but there's no one who's a firefighter. We need firefighters in a world where the UN, which should have been a firefighter, has lost its ability to be one; as the Security Council is blocked by permanent members like Russia, China, USA. Therefore, we need another interlocutor for peace," he emphasized.

At the same time, the adviser to the head of the Office of the President, Mykhailo Podoliak. emphasized that a "peaceful settlement" is impossible after 423 days of bloody war.

"Back to the basics… When someone talks about a "peaceful settlement," Ukraine only hears "surrender, capitulate, fulfill the ultimatum of the Russian Federation." After 423 days of bloody war, this is impossible. Because this is a deliberate war of destruction waged by the Russian Federation, not a mythical one" conflict." There is no room for "settlement" here," the advisor emphasized.
