Russian border guards block wounded Russian soldiers from re-entering Russia – Ukraine’s General Staff

The occupiers tried to take the wounded from the Luhansk region to the Russian city of Belgorod, but the Russian border guards turned them back.

The General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces reports this.

It has been recorded that 14 trucks were utilized to transport injured persons when attempting to traverse the State Border of Ukraine into the territory of the Russian Federation. However, for certain reasons, the Russian side refused to permit the military convoy to continue and compelled it to return.

"It is known that during the said movement, some of the enemy's servicemen did not survive due to the lack of proper medical care," the General Staff said.

Another part of the severely injured invaders, numbering over fifty individuals, was transported to the hospital facility established at the Troitsky Central District Hospital in the Luhansk region.

As Rybryka writes, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has reported that checkpoints situated between the Russian Federation and the temporarily occupied territories in eastern Ukraine are impeding the transportation of Russian ammunition to the front line; however, Moscow has no intention of ceasing their operations due to security concerns. The ISW's analysts further noted that the presence of these checkpoints highlights the Russian government's stance that the citizens of the occupied Ukraine are not viewed as Russian nationals, but rather are treated as a subject to an occupying power.

It should be noted that, according to the General Staff, the Ukrainian army repelled 53 attacks by Russians on the Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Mariinka, and Shakhtar fronts on April 22.

Moreover, Ukraine's armed forces eliminated 680 enemy combatants over the last day, bringing the total number of Russian casualties since the commencement of the full-scale war to approximately 185,730.
