“Putin hopes to “wait out” Ukrainian resistance” – NATO Secretary General

Russia's leader Putin hopes to "wait out" the resistance of the Ukrainians and the help that the collective West provides to this resistance.

He doesn't show any readiness to prepare for negotiations, Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, says this during the press conference with Czechia's leader Petr Pavel.

We have just discussed our assistance to Ukraine. Although Russian forces continue to suffer significant losses, President Putin shows no signs of preparing for peace. He thinks that he will be able to "wait out" Ukrainian resistance and help from the West (for Ukraine). We must continue to prove him wrong and provide the Ukrainians with everything they need to win, Stoltenberg said.

He thanked the Czech Republic for its significant contribution to common Euro-Atlantic security and assistance to Ukraine, including its contribution to the broad NATO aid package for Ukraine.

In response to Russia's brutal war of aggression, you increased your efforts to protect other NATO allies and to support Ukraine. The Czech Republic has provided critical military equipment to Ukraine, including tanks, helicopters and anti-aircraft missiles. At the same time, you accept hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees, the head of the Alliance said, addressing the Czech leader.

The Czech Republic plays a leading role in the battle group on the territory of Slovakia, helping to deter any aggression, and participates in the battle groups in Latvia and Lithuania, in the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, and in the NATO support mission in Iraq. Stoltenberg thanked the President of the Czech Republic for these efforts and contributions to the common security of the Alliance.
