Japan provides $400 mln grant to Ukraine for critical infrastructure restoration
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provides $400 million in non-refundable aid under the Emergency Recovery Program for Critical Infrastructure to Ukraine.
The press service of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine reported this.
Representatives of JICA and the Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine signed the agreement.
The Emergency Recovery Program for Critical Infrastructure is dedicated to providing for the essential needs of Ukrainian citizens and restoring the nation's vital infrastructure.
Funds will be allocated to support the following areas:
- equipment for humanitarian demining
- transport service
- energy service
- destruction waste management
- water supply
- medical equipment
- equipment for providing educational services
- agricultural sector
- public broadcasting sector
- utility sector at the level of local self-government bodies.

The Prime Minister of Japan arrived in Ukraine on Tuesday, March 21, for high-level talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida visited Bucha. The head of the Japanese government laid flowers near the church in Bucha and honored the memory of the massacre victims with a moment of silence.
As Rubryka reported, Japan is considering the possibility of exporting weapons to countries that are fighting the invasion, such as Ukraine.
