Science at Risk platform aims to support Ukrainian scholars affected by war
The Science at Risk platform is dedicated to researchers affected by the war in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announced on Facebook that the project was created by the Kunsht public organization and popular science media outlet.
What is the problem?
Russian forces destroyed or occupied dozens of scientific institutions in Ukrainian, and hundreds of scientists were forced to leave their homes, research, or workplaces.
Because of Russia, the scientific work, achievements, and especially artifacts of museums, galleries, and institutes were destroyed or looted.
What is the solution?
The Science at Risk platform was presented by the Kunsht public organization last week. Now the Science at Risk platform is available at the link.
Science at Risk is a new platform for scientists affected by war. This is a community and web platform aimed at popularizing the experience of Ukrainian scientists, finding international partners and donors, and telling the story of Ukrainian scientists during the war to a broad audience.
How does it work?
What will the project help with?
- Popularize the expertise of Ukrainian scientists.
- Find international partners and donors.
- Tell the stories of Ukrainian scientists during the war.
Ukrainian scientists will work in expert working groups, analyze the situation in Ukraine and look for ways to solve urgent and long-term problems in developing science and education.
The project is supported by the Department of Press, Education and Culture of the US Embassy in Ukraine, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the National Research Foundation. The NGO Kunsht is responsible for the implementation of the project.
Rubryka reported that the Academy of Sciences of Young Scientists of Finland had identified essential assistance methods for Ukrainian researchers in Ukraine and abroad. The corresponding report was published in March on the website of the Academy.
