Brazilian and Chinese leaders meet to discuss war in Ukraine

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will travel to Beijing this week to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss trade between the two countries and the Russian Federation's war in Ukraine.

This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira; Rubryka writes with reference to The Guardian.

"The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, told reporters that the two leaders will "talk about the war in Ukraine," the report said.

The Brazilian president is expected to arrive in China on Tuesday, April 11. He will meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Friday, April 14.

During the meeting, Lula hopes to advance his proposal for mediation negotiations to end the war in Ukraine started by Russia.

The Brazilian leader proposed the formation of an intergovernmental coalition to facilitate ending the war in Ukraine.

Last year, Lula was criticized for saying that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, were allegedly equally responsible for the war in Ukraine. He also refused to join Western countries in providing weapons to Ukraine to defend against aggression.

The media reported the other day that Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva offered Ukraine to cede Crimea to end the war.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine replied that Ukraine does not trade its territories and does not see any reason to cede at least a centimeter of Ukrainian land. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the de-occupation of the Ukrainian Crimea from the Russian invaders is the only option.
