Latvia funds restoration of seven houses in village of Yahidne, Chernihiv region
Seven completely destroyed houses in the village of Yahidne in the Chernihiv region, where the residents were kept in the basement of the local school by the russian invaders, will be rebuilt with the funds of the Republic of Latvia.

"16 private houses were completely destroyed in the village of Yahidne. Last year, we concluded a memorandum with the Republic of Latvia, which allocated us building materials to reconstruct seven houses. Today, one house has already been completely restored, and the next two are under construction," Olena Shvydka, the head of the Ivanovo community, said.
The head of the community added that the new houses would be the same type, with a total area of 60 square meters.
It should be noted that, in total, 173 households were damaged in Yahidne due to hostilities and shelling. Sixteen houses were utterly destroyed.
As of the end of March, 67 apartments and 34 private houses have already been renovated in the village.

Almost 400 people were held hostage for a month. They were kept in a basement with an area of 200 square meters. 11 residents could not withstand the inhuman conditions of imprisonment; they died in the basement. The occupiers shot another ten villagers.
