Ukraine brings back another child deported to russia
Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine's Commissioner for Human Rights, has said Ukraine managed to bring back another child deported to russia.
The boy was abducted by russians from the occupied territories of the Kherson region.
"At the beginning of the year, a grandmother asked me to help her grandson Artem, who, along with other children from the Oleshky orphanage in the Kherson region, had been deported to russia." Lubinets said.
The applicant reported as she found out the orphans were taken to russia, she personally went to the institution to pick up her grandson.
However, Artem, along with other residents, had already been moved to the territory of russia, from there to the Crimea peninsula, and later to the city of Skadovsk.
The administration of the institution where Artem was staying refused to return the kid.
Lubinets said that following his appeal in February, his grandmother was appointed guardian of his grandson. Other measures were taken to bring the child back to the territory controlled by Ukraine.
As of March, 19,514 Ukrainian children are considered illegally deported, the state's authorities report.
The European Union adopted the tenth package of sanctions against russia, which also targets those involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children.
