Ukraine’s PM meets with European Parliament delegation

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal discussed with the delegation of the Socialists and Democrats Group of the European Parliament the issue of strengthening sanctions against the russian federation and further defense support for Ukraine.

Shmyhal wrote about this on Twitter.

"The confiscation of russian assets, the strengthening of sanctions, and further defense support for Ukraine were discussed today in Kyiv with the delegation of the Socialists and Democrats group of the European Parliament, headed by the president of the group, Iratxe Garcia Perez," Shmyhal noted.

He thanked the representatives of the European Parliament for increasing aid and solidarity with Ukraine.

Ukraine hopes that the EU and the European Parliament will support the creation of a special tribunal regarding the crime of russian aggression.

Moreover, the European Parliament has passed a resolution urging member states to create a special international tribunal to hold to account those responsible for war crimes in Ukraine. On January 19, the resolution was approved by an overwhelming majority, with 472 votes in favor, 19 against, and 33 abstentions. The tribunal would enable justice to be served by pursuing russia's political and military leadership for their crimes of aggression against Ukraine. This also extends to aleksandr lukashenko and his cronies in belarus. The resolution calls for the EU to work with Ukraine to begin preparations for this tribunal.
