Ukraine launches free English language course with native speakers for veterans
Ukraine's Ministry of Veterans Affairs launched a free English language course with native speakers for veterans, the Ukrainian Veterans Fund reports.
What is the problem?
After finishing service, many Ukrainian veterans struggle to integrate back into civilian life and find new jobs and passions. Since English has become an integral part of essential skills, business management, and professional growth, the Ukrainian government has decided to provide veterans the opportunity to learn this needed language. The ones who choose to stay in military service will be more proficient in using Western-made weapons and training with foreign instructors.
What is the solution?
The course was jointly developed with the American foundation, People of Ukraine, and was adapted to the level of language proficiency and special needs of veterans.
For example, defenders who have lost sight will be able to learn because they have developed a special program for reading audio.
There will also be levels available for both beginners and advanced learners.
How does it work?
The courses will last three months online on the Zoom platform. Veterans can join them during the rehabilitation period.
Lessons will be twice a week and last 45 minutes. They will be taught by Americans with many years of experience working in American schools.
After completing the courses, participants will receive certificates.
Training starts on April 25. The veterans can register until April 15, but the number of places is limited.
To apply, a veteran should write to [email protected], provide contact information, send a copy of UBD (combat participant) and a photo, and tell about military service and English skills and experience.
After registration, participants will be divided into groups.
