French and Ukrainian film studios will make TV series about first weeks of russia's invasion
The French film studio Gaumont and Ukraine's Starlight Media will shoot a series about the first weeks of full-scale war: the title of the upcoming film is In "Her Car."
Rubryka reports, referring to Starlight Media, that the filming of the project, which showrunner Yevhen Tunik produces, began in Kyiv and the region on Friday, March 17.
Ukrainian actress Anastasia Karpenko will play the leading role in the series. In 2022, she was awarded the best actress at the Locarno International Film Festival.
The premiere of the series in Ukraine will take place in 2024.
"We're happy that our global group structure with operating offices in the main European markets allows us to act as a 'one-stop shop' for our television partners across the continent," says Christophe Riandee, Vice-CEO of Gaumont. "This allows us to establish international co-production and financing, without which such special and relevant series probably could not be created now. And we look forward to new international co-production projects created by our European teams."
Starlight Media says it will be a 10-episode drama based on the real events of the first weeks of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
According to the script, the series will show the story of a Ukrainian woman who worked as a psychologist but changed her profession during the war.
In the days when millions of Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes, she stayed in the country and became a carrier. Every passenger in her car goes through a kind of therapy before reaching their destination.
