QHome to install 100 houses in Kyiv region for families who lost their homes due to war

With the support of UNHCR and the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the Ukrainian company QHome will manufacture and install 100 houses for families who lost their homes due to russia's war.

The press service of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and the UN Refugee Agency announced this, Rubryka reports.

What is the problem?

At the beginning of the war, there were fierce battles on the territory of the Kyiv region. russian invaders destroyed civilian houses, shooting them from tanks, artillery, helicopters, and airplanes. Thousands of Ukrainians were left homeless. They had to go abroad or to another region of the country.

After the de-occupation of the region, many citizens decided to return home, but not everyone had a place to live.

What is the solution?

In the Kyiv region, prefabricated houses constructed by Ukrainian construction company QHome are being installed on the private land of families whose homes were destroyed due to russia's full-fledged invasion of Ukraine.

100 houses will be built as part of the project. The first batch will be given to the communities most affected by the war in the Bucha district.

"We know, from our direct consultations with internally displaced people and Ukrainians who have fled abroad, that having a safe and warm house to move back into is one of the main enablers of sustainable and dignified return. We are therefore working with Oblast Administrations, like the one in Kyiv, to support people with house repairs and piloting initiatives like this one with QHome," said Karolina Lindholm Billing, UNHCR Representative in Ukraine. "It is especially important that we are working on this project with a Ukrainian company, which employs Ukrainian staff and contributes to the local economy."

How does it work?

In the Kyiv region, prefabricated houses of the QHome company are being installed on the plots of families whose houses were destroyed due to the invasion of Ukraine. Such housing is designed for four people and is equipped with everything necessary.

"Our main goal is to help people return to their homes. Such prefabricated houses are designed for living and allow people to rebuild their destroyed houses while living in their own backyards. For many, it is very important not to lose touch with the place where one's whole life has passed. I am grateful to the UNHCR for their constant support, assistance, and implementation of this important project," Deputy Head of the Kyiv State Administration  Mykola Boyko emphasized.

The prefabricated houses are produced from durable materials by QHomes and equipped with Ukrainian-made furniture. The housing units are ready for use when installed. Its area is 25 square meters, designed for up to 4 people.

The house is equipped with everything necessary, including a wood-burning stove, an air conditioner, a refrigerator, a toilet and a shower, and a functioning kitchen. In addition, it is equipped with furniture – beds, a table, and chairs.

To recap, more than 11,000 objects damaged due to the full-scale russian invasion have already been restored in the Kyiv region.
