Over 250 Ukrainian athletes have been killed by russia – sports ministry

250 athletes and coaches, two plastoon scouts, and one youth center worker died due to russia's full-scale war in Ukraine.

Ukraine's Ministry of Youth and Sports reports that these data are as of March 9. 

According to the report, 16 sportsmen were injured due to military actions, and 28 have been in captivity. SIz people are considered missing.

Due to russian attacks and occupation, 95 sports facilities were completely or partially destroyed.

Another 248 sports facilities have significant or partial damage. Total losses exceed $250 million.

In May 2022, the Sports Committee of Ukraine created the Sports Angels project. Almost a year ago, the number of victims in the field of sports reached 33 people.

To recap, the International Olympics Committee wants to allow russian and belurusian athletes to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
