Kyiv ranked among top 30 world capitals in terms of air quality in 2022 - IQAir World Air Quality Report
According to the annual ranking of IQAir World Air Quality Report, Kyiv entered the top 30 capitals of the world in terms of atmospheric air quality in 2022.
The Kyiv City State Administration reported this.
It is noted that being between Madrid and Tokyo, Kyiv took 26th place in the rating, entering the so-called "green" zone.
It is also known that the capital of Ukraine received a special distinction as a city that, despite the full-scale war, is building an air monitoring system and making efforts to improve the environmental situation.
"Undoubtedly, our positions in this year's ranking were affected by the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, a decrease in the number of transport and the intensity of work of enterprises in the capital. However, it is no less important that thanks to our active position, from 2022, the IQAir company receives information about the state of the air in Kyiv directly from the city's monitoring system," Oleksandr Voznyi, head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Kyiv City State Administration, said.
It is reported that the concentration of PM 2.5 dust in Kyiv has decreased by 50% compared to 2021.
