Spain to send six Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine soon
Spain has announced the delivery of six Leopard 2A4 battle tanks to Ukraine soon, to which a second batch of four other units will be added later.
Rubryka reports this referring to the statement of the Minister of Defense of Spain, Margarita Robles.
"Just yesterday, the training of 55 Ukrainian servicemen who will be part of the crew and repair brigade of these tanks was completed," the minister said.
According to her, soon, Spain will send six Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine.
Robles also announced new deliveries of M-113 armored personnel carriers. Ukrainian military personnel are also trained in Spain under the leadership of the Toledo Training Coordination Center as part of the European Union's mission to assist Ukraine.
"To date, Spain has trained more than 850 soldiers in various specialties. Spain will continue to support Ukraine's self-defense and its efforts and courage to restore its freedom and dignity with the help of military equipment, training, and humanitarian aid," Minister Robles added.
On March 13, the four-week training of dozens of Ukrainian soldiers on Leopard 2A4 tanks ended in Spain.
The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that nine allies of Ukraine have pledged to provide it with more than 150 Leopard tanks as military aid.
