EU prolongs sanctions on hundreds individuals and entities linked to russia

The Council of the European Union has extended sanctions against persons responsible for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine until September 15, 2023.

The press service of the Council of the EU noted that the restrictive measures provide for travel restrictions for natural persons, the freezing of assets, and a ban on making funds or other economic resources available to the listed individuals and entities.

Sanctions apply to 1,473 individuals and 205 organizations.

"russia must stop its atrocious war immediately. The European Union will stand by Ukraine with steadfast support for as long as it takes and remains unwavering in its support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the EU Council added.

For reference:

As previously reported, Hungary tried to block EU sanctions against russian oligarchs. However, no single name was removed from the current list of persons subject to restrictions.
