Ukraine does not expect fighter jets in the near future, foreign minister says
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said the state doesn't hope for a quick supply of fighter jets in the nearest future.
He calls it a logistic challenge, Bild am Sonntag cites his interview with the media.
"I don't expect the fighter jets to be delivered anytime soon because it's a very difficult task from a logistical and technical point of view." Kuleba said.
The minister noted that this is why the Ukrainian side is already proposing to start training Ukrainian pilots on Western aircraft.
"So that when a decision is made on the provision of aircraft, we do not waste time and many months on preparation," the minister emphasized.
In February, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius ruled out the supply of German fighter jets to Ukraine. However, he said that this issue could be discussed in a few months.
The leader of the largest opposition Christian Democratic Union, Friedrich Merz, also believes that it is possible that Germany will supply fighter jets to Ukraine.
Among Western jet fighters, Ukraine focuses most on the F-16.
