Zelensky hopes NATO summit in Vilnius will provide security guarantees for Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expects that the Alliance will take steps towards providing Ukraine with security guarantees at the Vilnius NATO summit to be held in July.
The President stated this during a joint press conference with Finland's Prime Minister Sanna Marin in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
"As for the summit in Vilnius: we are invited, but we would like to see some appropriate steps forward, apart from our current status, in our relations with NATO," the head of state said.
He expressed gratitude to all NATO member countries that support Ukrainians on the battlefield.
At the same time, the President emphasized the importance of obtaining security guarantees for Ukraine.
"Even if we cannot be in NATO during the war, we would like to have appropriate security guarantees on this path while we are not yet in NATO. And we expect exactly the corresponding steps towards Ukraine by the NATO countries before these security guarantees at the Vilnius summit," Zelensky emphasized.

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin visited Ukraine on March 10. Marin and Zelensky honored the memory of Ukrainian soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine, particularly the memory of the Hero of Ukraine, Dmytro Kotsiubailo (callsign "Da Vinci"), whose farewell ceremony was held in Kyiv on the day.
The NATO summit is scheduled for July 11-12 in Vilnius. According to Rubryka, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plans to personally visit the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit in Vilnius in July.
