Poland will hand over 10 more Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine this week
Poland intends to transfer ten more Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine this week, according to a statement by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak, quoted by Bloomberg.
"This week, Poland will deliver ten more Leopard 2A4 battle tanks to Ukraine after we handed over the first four units on February 24," Blaszczak said.
The defense minister also added that Poland was ready to launch a service center in Poland that will deal with updating and maintaining Leopard tanks that are sent to Ukraine.
"This is a problem faced by almost all countries that have Leopard. But it can be solved primarily by the German arms industry…
"I hope my German colleague Boris Pistorius will convince the country's industry to supply spare parts for the old Leopard tanks that Poland has undertaken to supply to Ukraine," Blaszczak added.
Poland became the first of the partner countries to hand over modern Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Warsaw sent the first four tanks to Ukrainians on the anniversary of the full-scale war.
Blaszczak also noted that the favorable decision to transfer this air defense system to Kyiv was made thanks to Poland's efforts.
As Rubryka reported, the Air Force assured Ukraine would receive the Patriot systems, but everyone should wait for official information.
