Leaders of Germany's Social Democratic Party arrive in Kyiv to discuss further support

The co-chair of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Lars Klingbeil, and the leader of the Social Democratic faction in the Bundestag, Rolf Mützenich, arrived in Kyiv.

According to the Twitter announcement by the SPD parliamentary faction, the visit agenda includes negotiations with representatives of the Ukrainian government and parliament.

"Rolf Mützenich and I are now here (in Kyiv) to talk to many people in Ukraine and see what further support we can provide," Klingbeil said.

It is reported that German politicians have already met with Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko and his brother Volodymyr.

The ruling SPD party, which has Chancellor Sholz as a member, has long supported the "Eastern policy," which involved close contact with russia. However, after the outbreak of full-scale war, the leaders and many ordinary party members admit they have made mistakes.

At the party congress in December, the SPD intends to officially revise its foreign policy and attitude towards russia at the party congress.
