Solutions to win: Ukraine's army is using recycled gas cylinders donated by the public
A project aiming to collect used gas cylinders from the population and transfer them to Ukrainian defenders at the front was launched in Kyiv.
The Kyiv City State Administration, with reference to its Deputy Chairman Petro Panteleev, reported this.
What is the problem?
In the war realities, residents of all Ukrainian regions, who were left without electricity after the rocket attacks of the russian federation, widely used gas cylinders for cooking.
Gas cylinder waste has a negative impact on the environment. After all, producing any metal is a highly harmful process for nature.
What is the solution?
The project allows reusing gas cylinders instead of recycling or throwing them in the trash.
Municipal enterprise "Kyivcomunservice" and the Volunteer Headquarters of the Territorial Defense of the Obukhiv District have implemented a joint project of collecting used tourist gas cylinders from the population.
"The empty cylinders will be refilled and sent to satisfy the needs of Ukraine's armed forces," the message said.
Panteleev noted that due to the project, several important issues could be resolved:
- collection of used gas cylinders accumulated by the population,
- their reuse at the front.
How does it work?
"The city is grateful to the volunteers for such an initiative and ensuring the re-filling of cylinders. In turn, the city enterprise organized the collection logistics: we asked residents to throw used empty cylinders into orange containers for hazardous waste into the holes for batteries.
At the same time, we urge you to follow the cylinders' instructions, which refer to safe operation and proper disposal. The collected cylinders will be given to volunteers," Panteleev said.
He noted that the Kyiv Municipal Service has already marked containers for hazardous waste and placed a QR code on them, with which citizens can report a cylinder left in a container at a certain address.
