Restoring Ukraine’s borders is the first step to ending the war – Defense Intelligence Chief Budanov

The first stage of the war's end will be restoring the borders of 1991 and the creation of a security zone 100 km deep into russia.

The Head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov,  stated in an interview with the "Voice of America" media.

"The end of the war in the first stage is restoring the borders of 1991. This is probably the correct answer. This will cause a change in the entire security architecture, the economy, and everything else in the entire region. Therefore, the first stage should be Ukraine's access to administrative borders. Next, we need to look at the security zone around Ukraine, at least from the russian side. To a depth of 100 kilometers or more. And so on," Budanov stressed.

In addition, the head of Ukrainian intelligence predicts the dissolution of the russian federation.

"There are already problems in russia, and they will only intensify. The sooner they (russians – ed.) leave Ukraine, the more, in theory, they will have a chance to keep their territory within more or less similar borders. It will not be the same as it was but more- less similar. Perhaps it will become a real federation because, in fact, if you look at the legislation, they are closer to a unitary state. It can turn into a confederation, and so on. Keeping it as it was will not be a thing," Budanov believes.

President Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced that Ukraine, with the support of international partners, will be able to make 2023 the year of the end of russian aggression, the year of the restoration of peace and the liberation of its land and people from russian captivity.

On February 25, Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council, stated that the war couldn't stop until russia was divided into parts.
