France to supply Ukraine with air defense radar

Ukraine will receive the GM 200 radar for the air defense system from the French company Thales.

This will make it possible to protect the skies by spotting incoming russian missiles and drones, Partice Kane, the company's CEO, said this in interview to Le Journal du Dimance.

Shares of Thales, one of Europe's largest suppliers of weapons electronics, have risen by almost 60% since the start of russia's full-scale war.

Kane noted that all the main industries with which the company works, namely defense, security, aeronautics, space, identification and digital security, are actively developing.

The French company will develop and deliver GM 200 radars in May this year.

Ground Master 200 – three-coordinate medium-range radar manufactured by Thales Group. Belongs to the Ground Master family. It includes: GM400α, GM60, GM200 MM/A and MM/C.

The GM200 works as an aerial surveillance gap filler or a sensor for an air defense system. The GM200 also has a surface channel and missile/artillery/mortar detection and warning capability

The Ground Master 200 is a self-contained solution designed to house the radar, mast, generator set and operating cabin. Accommodates two operators in a 20-foot ISO shelter. It can be trucked and deployed in 15 minutes and has a 10 minute off-site time, providing operators with critical asset survivability and key benefits of this radar.

The GM200 model, with all its equipment is installed in a container that is transported by a truck with a wheel formula of 8×8.

The GM200 can be integrated into the SAMP/T air defense system, which is also provided to Ukraine.

• S range with GaN technology;
• Extended detection range: 250 km in surveillance mode/100 km in engagement mode;
• Continuous 3D coverage from -7° to 70° in one rotation (3 seconds to observe, 1.5 seconds to engage);
• Digital beamforming.
