Ukraine includes French corporation Auchan in list of international sponsors of war
The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) added the French corporation Auchan to the list of international sponsors of the war.
The agency reported on Telegram that the reason is the company refused to boycott the terrorist state of russia during the full-scale war. Auchan also didn't close its business ventures in russia.
Thanks to the journalistic investigations of The Insider, Le Monde, and Bellingcat, it became known that since the beginning of the invasion, the russian subsidiary of the French Auchan retail supplied goods to the russian military in the captured Ukrainian territories under the guise of "humanitarian aid," and also helped with mobilization measures in the russian federation.
"For Auchan, russia is the second most important market after France. Only in 2020 the russian Auchan branch paid $167 million. According to journalists' calculations, this equals the cost of 15 Su-25 aircraft, 42 tanks, 222 Kalibr missiles, or 477,000 AK-74 assault rifles," said Oleksandra Novikov, the NAPC director. "We cannot allow russia to continue receiving these funds, for which it then kills Ukrainians. We want companies to be ashamed of cooperating with murderers."
The head of the agency added the "Institute of Reputation" must work. That's why the NAPC included Auchan in the list of international sponsors of the war.
To recap, the Insider, Le Monde, and Bellingcat published a joint investigation that since the beginning of the invasion, the russian "daughter" of the French Auchan retail supplied goods to the russian military in the occupied Ukrainian territories.
Auchan Ukraine said they were shocked by the journalists' investigation into the russian "daughter" of Auchan providing aid to the occupying forces and demanded an explanation from the French office.
Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, said that he would discuss with his French colleague, Catherine Colonna, the investigation into the Auchan activities for the benefit of the russian army.
French parent company Auchan categorically denies assisting the russian army.
