NATO Secretary General: the Alliance summit in Vilnius to confirm support for Ukraine, the allies are doing everything possible to win
The North Atlantic Alliance countries are doing everything possible for Ukraine to win the war the russian federation unleashed.
The next NATO summit in Vilnius will confirm the strong support of the allies for Ukraine, reports Ukrinform citing the statement of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
"The success of the next NATO summit will mean a demonstration of unwavering support for Ukraine, and I am absolutely convinced that this will happen in Vilnius.
This also applies to our commitment to strengthening deterrence and defense and to building partnerships with our partners in the Asia-Pacific region. Security is not a regional issue, it is a global issue", Stoltenberg said.
The NATO Secretary General emphasized that russia should not win the war against Ukraine because it could send a signal to other totalitarian regimes that are watching what the price of this invasion is for russia and what results it can achieve.
Stoltenberg recalled that NATO's response to russia's growing aggression was a significant increase in the Alliance's military presence on its eastern flank.
"What is changing now in the East is the presence of NATO. Because we have seen the growing aggressiveness of russia and responded to it since 2014. For the first time in our history, we deployed NATO troops in the eastern part of the Alliance.
Most of these troops came from the Western countries of the Alliance. Therefore, NATO demonstrates unity and readiness to lend a shoulder of support.
We must make sure that russia will not t be able to continue its aggressive actions against countries in Europe, and send a very clear signal to moscow: NATO is ready to defend the entire territory of the Alliance, every inch of it", Stoltenberg said.
To remind, on February 18, the meeting of the leading politicians of Europe and the world continues in Germany as part of the Munich Security Conference. It is devoted to the most urgent problems of European and world security.
