Grain From Ukraine program preparing shipment bound for Kenya, Ethiopia

As part of the Grain From Ukraine program, another vessel — the bulk carrier VALSAMITIS — will deliver 25,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat to Kenya and 5,000 tons to Ethiopia.

Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure press service reported on Facebook that loading is already underway in the port of Chornomorsk.

"This is already the fifth vessel within the #GrainFromUkraine program. Its purpose is to provide humanitarian Ukrainian wheat to countries suffering from a food crisis," the statement reads. "Among these countries are Kenya and Ethiopia. They will receive this batch of wheat thanks to donations from Great Britain, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic."

The 4th vessel is also being unloaded in the port of Djibouti. AMIRA HANA bulk carrier delivered 30,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat to Ethiopia.

"In addition, this morning, the port of Odesa received the bulk carrier ROYAL STAR, which will also transport humanitarian wheat," the ministry added.

The Grain From Ukraine program initiated by Volodymyr Zelensky is implemented with the support of the UN World Food Program and developed countries of the world.

More than 30 countries have already joined the program, and the amount of donations is almost 200 million dollars, the department noted.

Within the program's framework, 110 thousand tons of Ukrainian wheat have already been shipped by one of the most socially vulnerable African countries — Ethiopia and Somalia.

In general, since August 1, as part of the Grain Initiative, 746 ships have left the ports of Great Odesa, which exported 2.5 million tons of Ukrainian food to countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure.
