France provides Ukraine with state-of-the-art Akeron anti-tank missiles

Within the framework of military aid package, France transferred an unspecified number of 5th-generation Akeron anti-tank missile systems and missiles to them, although this was not reported before.

Rubryka reports this referring to the statement of the Vice President of the Commission for National Defense and the Armed Forces of France, Jean-Louis Thieriot, cited by Opexnews.

According to him, France transferred an unspecified number of anti-tank missile systems and missiles to Ukraine.

"Today, it is clear that the weapons we are sending are good and in working condition. The Caesar self-propelled guns, the Mistral air defense system, and the Akeron are performing their tasks well," the message reads.

Akeron MP is a French anti-tank guided missile system of the fifth generation. Featuring both fire-and-forget and command guidance operating modes, it also integrates third-party target designation for indirect firing scenarios through its lock-on after-launch capability for non-line-of-sight (NLOS) use.

Entering French service from 2017 onwards, "Akeron MP" was developed by MBDA France and is intended to replace the MILAN and FGM-148 Javelin of American production.

It is developed for infantry (as it is a portable anti-aircraft missile system) and for installation on combat vehicles and has a firing range of up to 5 km.

It should be noted that France provides Ukraine with the first batch of 14 AMX-10RC light tanks. Ukrainian crews have already passed the training program for these machines. France has also concentrated on supplying Ukraine with air defense systems, artillery guns, and tanks.
