Slovakia condemns russia as state sponsor of terrorism

The National Council of the Slovak Republic expressed support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and once again condemned russian aggression in Ukraine, Aktuality reports.

The publication emphasized that 78 legislators, the majority of the OĽaNO faction, and the entire SaS faction voted in favor. Twelve deputies were against it, seven did not vote, and 23 abstained. Some members of the We're Family faction abstained.

Aktuality notes that in a resolution adopted on Thursday, February 16, Slovak deputies condemned russia's large-scale attack on civilians, civilian objects, and an essential energy structure.

The resolution also calls the current russian regime terrorist and russia a state sponsor of terrorism.

Parliament also expressed support for efforts to establish a special tribunal for the prosecution of crimes of aggression and support for the prosecution of crimes against humanity and war crimes.

The deputies also condemned russia's direct and indirect threats to use nuclear weapons.

The resolution non-recognized the organization and the results of referendums in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine. At the same time, it emphasizes that these territories remain part of Ukraine.

At the same time, the document condemns the hybrid war that russia is waging on the territory of Slovakia. The resolution calls on law enforcement agencies, intelligence services, and other competent authorities not to underestimate the threat but to take adequate measures against it to maintain security and democracy in Slovakia.

As Rubryka reported, the European Parliament approved the resolution for the first anniversary of the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The parliamentarians condemn the actions of the kremlin and call on Ukraine to provide all the necessary assistance, including considering the possibility of transferring fighter jets.
