Montenegro has provided €10 mln in military aid to Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, Montenegro's total military aid to Ukraine has already exceeded 10 million euros.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the country at the request of the Vijesti, Rubryka writes.

The first batch of military aid, worth 83,650 euros, consisted of 7,000 dry rations, 500 helmets, 300 body armor, and 600 armor plates. The second batch, worth more than half a million euros, contained 60 mm and 82 mm mortars and Soviet Strela-2M portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS).

The third and most extensive military aid package to Ukraine from Montenegro is estimated at 8.24 million euros. It consisted of 216 Strela-2M MANPADS, 759 anti-aircraft shells of 57 mm caliber, almost eight thousand – of 76 mm caliber, and 2.3 million of 7.62 mm cartridges.

The most recent military aid package to Ukraine was sent in September 2022 and contained spare parts for Mi-8 helicopters.

Previously, the information about the military assistance of Montenegro to Ukraine was kept confidential at the NATO level, the Ministry of Defense explained at the request of Vijesti. Still, after the publication of the relevant data by the allies of the Alliance, the secrecy was lifted.

The agency emphasized that Montenegro will continue to provide military aid to Ukraine – in particular, it is considering the possibility of accepting wounded Ukrainian soldiers for treatment and will conduct a dialogue with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense regarding its needs on the battlefield.

In December 2022, Montenegro signed a declaration with Ukraine to support its Euro-Atlantic perspective.
