Ukraine negotiating Panther tank supply with German arms manufacturer

Ukraine is negotiating with the German concern Rheinmetall about the supply of the most modern German KF51 Panther tanks.

Rubryka reports this, citing Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger in an interview with Handelsblatt.

"We are negotiating with Kyiv on the export of the Panther," he said, adding Ukraine is interested in the new Lynx infantry fighting vehicles.

Rheinmetall presented the KF51 Panther at an exhibition in Paris last summer. Then it was named the strongest battle tank in the world. Ukraine may become the first country to purchase this tank.

For now, Rheinmetall has a demonstration model of the KF51 Panther. But the company director notes that deliveries can be made in 15-18 months. Tanks can be built in Germany or Hungary.

Ukraine also needs German approval to export these tanks, as was the case with the Leopard 2 and Leopard 2 tanks.

Recently, Germany issued permission to export Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukraine. The government of Germany has made a conscientious decision to allow military-industrial complex enterprises to transfer Leopard 1 tanks from their stocks to Ukraine, Federal government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit reported.

The Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany agreed to work together to transfer about a hundred Leopard 1 tanks from German industrial warehouses, says the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Wopke Hoekstra.
