Royal Canadian Mint introduces silver coin dedicated to Ukraine
The Royal Canadian Mint has released a colored silver coin in the shape of a Ukrainian Easter egg, the Royal Canadian Mint informs.
It is not the first "Easter egg" coin in the collection of the Canadian Mint, and this time it has features of a Trypillian art style.
It is reported that the reverse of the coin features colored patterns, and the coin's obverse features the profile of Queen Elizabeth II.
In addition, the coin is made of 31.82 grams of pure silver and has a value of 20 Canadian dollars.
The Royal Canadian Mint issued 7.5 thousand pieces that were sold out in a few days.
The net sales proceeds will be donated to the Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal initiative, which helps Ukrainians affected by russian aggression.
For reference:
Trypillian pysanky are a modern expression of prehistoric designs: the symbols and colors are all grounded in traditions stemming from the ancient Trypillian civilization that existed in Ukraine between 5500 and 2750 BCE. Trypillian culture extended from the Carpathian Mountains to the Dnister and Dnipro Rivers, including territories of modern Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania.
Earlier, the White House issued a collector's coin," Ostriv Zmiinyi" ("Snake Island"), dedicated to the support of the Ukrainian army in the battles for the island.
Also, two Ukrainian commemorative coins were recognized among the best in the world for the past year. They won nominations for "Best Contemporary Event Coin" and "Most Artistic Coin of the Year."
