Singapore, not Russia, will host swimming world championships

The World Aquatics has decided to deprive the russian federation of the right to host the 2025 World Aquatics Championship.

The 2025 World Water Championships will not take place in the russian city of Kazan. It is not the first time that the capital of russian Tatarstan suffered due to the sports isolation of the russian federation after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Last year, the russian city was deprived of the right to hold a planetary forum for swimming in a 25-meter pool. Moreover, in January, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to relocate the 2023 European Super Cup from Kazan, russia, to Athens, Greece.

This time Singapore will host the 2025 World Aquatics Championship.

As part of the World Aquatics Championships, athletes compete in swimming, water polo, diving, artistic swimming, open water swimming, and high diving. The competition is held annually. In particular, the Japanese city of Fukuoka will host the forum this summer ( on July 14-30).

Earlier, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine suggested a plan of measures to prevent russian and belarusian athletes from participating in the 2024 Olympic Games. Also, the National Olympic Committee members voted for a possible boycott of the Olympics. One hundred nine members supported this idea out of 112 members.
