Zelensky may attend the EU leaders’ summit in Brussels

The press secretary of Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, confirmed that Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, was invited to the EU leaders' summit on February 9. The Ukrainian issues, migration, and the bloc's response to the US law on reducing inflation will be discussed at the meeting. However, security issues may derail the Ukrainian leader's travel plans.

According to journalists, it is expected that the head of the Ukrainian state will address an extraordinary plenary session of the European Parliament.

On February 3, during the "Ukraine-EU" summit in Kyiv, the President, answering questions concerning the possibility of this trip to Brussels, said that such a visit was problematic from the security point of view.

"Honestly, it's risky for me to go anywhere. That's true," the President said.

The press secretary of the European Council's President confirmed that Volodymyr Zelensky was invited to the summit. However, the representative of the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and the spokesman of the President of Ukraine, Serhii Nikiforov, refused to comment on this topic.

It is also reported that on February 9, a meeting of 27 EU leaders is already planned at the summit.
