Ukraine may send rescuers to Türkiye to aid eathquake response

Ukrainian rescuers will go to Türkiye to help eliminate the consequences of devastating earthquakes.
Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, reported this information during the telethon "Yeduni Novyny" ("United News"), Rubryka writes.
He said a consultation was held with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. It was decided that several dozen Ukrainian rescuers would be sent to help Türkiye.
"We never do anything that harms Ukraine's interests. Therefore, several dozens of Ukrainian rescuers will be able to help Türkiye, our neighbor, our friend, without harming the capabilities of rescue services in Ukraine," the minister said.
Kuleba also said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had received more than 20 appeals from citizens of Ukraine who cannot get in touch with their relatives in Türkiye.
"As of now, we do not have information about the victims, but while the debris is being sorted out, the information will be updated," Kuleba summarized.

This morning Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon suffered powerful earthquakes. Many houses and other buildings were destroyed as a result of the earthquakes. Fires broke out at the places of destruction.
Orhan Tatar, AFAD Director General for Earthquake Risk Reduction, said that 2,316 people died, 13,293 were injured, and 6,216 buildings were destroyed.
Tatar added that 7,840 people were already rescued from the rubble.
The President of Ukraine expressed his condolences to the Turkish people and confirmed the readiness of Ukraine to provide its support.
