Ukraine will join EU, Kremlin “won’t scare us” – European Council president

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that the European Union will not stop supporting Ukraine despite the Kremlin's threats and that Ukraine will become a member of the EU.

He stated this at a press conference in Kyiv after the EU-Ukraine summit, the European Pravda reports.

"This summit sends two clear messages. The first is for you and the people of Ukraine — the EU will support you in all possible ways. The Kremlin did not intimidate us and will not intimidate us because the EU and Ukraine are one family," Michel said.

"And the second message is the future of Ukraine within the European Union. Ukrainians have made a clear choice in favor of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. Your future is with us in our common European Union. Your destiny is our destiny," the head of the European Council added.

The day before, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine should already start negotiations on membership in the European Union this year.

While in Kyiv, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, expressed the opinion that Ukraine would become a member of the European Union.
