Germany and Sweden are probably negotiating a new military aid package for Ukraine. According to this package, Stockholm will provide Ukraine with air defense missiles and launchers for the German IRIS-T systems.
Bloomberg reports, citing sources familiar with this issue, that Germany has asked Sweden to provide launchers for the IRIS-T anti-missile system.
According to the publication's sources, the parties are also discussing the possibility of transferring more ammunition that can be used for the German IRIS-T systems.
The sources said that Germany is sticking to its plan to send three extra IRIS-T systems this year after the first arrived in October.
The Swedish Armed Forces use IRIS-T missiles in their Robotsystem 98 system, launched from Swedish-made armored tracked vehicles. In November, the country's government announced that it would provide Ukraine with an air defense system without giving details about its type.
According to Bloomberg, Germany began overhauling its equipment after russia invaded Ukraine. The country has also increased the production of critical weapons.
