Poland and Baltic countries pledge to continue supporting Ukraine

Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia pledged to continue to provide Ukraine with political, military, and other support.

They stated this in the joint declaration on deepening cooperation between the four countries in the region to jointly deter the aggressor and strengthen economic cooperation, which was signed on Tuesday in Riga by the ministers of foreign affairs of Poland and the Baltic states, Ukrinform reports.

"We want to once again draw attention to the great importance of continuing to provide political, military, financial support and humanitarian aid to Ukraine," the declaration reads.

It states that, given their shared historical past, the countries have a similar vision of potential threats and therefore are determined to strengthen security and protect the independence and territorial integrity of the nations.

"We jointly created initiatives to counter hybrid threats, provide deterrence and defense, strengthen border security, and support Ukraine, which was successfully implemented in various formats and structures, including the EU, NATO, and the UN," the declaration emphasizes.

The ministers of foreign affairs of the four countries noted in the declaration that they are convinced of the need to strengthen cooperation at the political and practical levels within NATO and the EU to redouble efforts to enhance collective deterrence and resilience strategies and promote economic growth both in the region and beyond.

As Rubryka reported, about 1,700 Polish companies want to participate in Ukraine's reconstruction.

From the start of russia's full-scale invasion, Poland and the Baltic states have been avid supporters of Ukraine against russian aggression and the most prominent advocates for more military, humanitarian, and economic aid for Ukraine.

Poland has provided arms and other military equipment to Ukraine worth at least $1.7 billion. Poland has given Ukraine over 200 T-72 tanks, 18 Krab self-propelled tracked gun-howitzers, and many Piorun portable surface-to-air missiles, among other equipment.

The government of Estonia has recently decided to provide military aid of 113 million euros to Ukraine. This is the most extensive aid package provided by Estonia to date. Estonia's military assistance to Ukraine will increase to 370 million euros or slightly more than 1% of Estonia's gross domestic product.

Latvian military aid to Ukraine has reached 1% of gross domestic product (GDP) or approximately 370 million euros, Defense Minister Ināra Mūrniece (National Alliance) said on January 23.

Lithuania's total assistance to Ukraine is currently estimated at 660 million euros, including 240 million euros in military aid, Defence Minister Arvydas Anušauskas has said.
