Chernihiv historical center planned to be included in UNESCO World Heritage List
The historical center of Chernihiv is planned to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy, talked about it.
Oleksandr Tkachenko said this on the air of the telethon, Rubryka informs.
"Now we are considering other cities, but it will take time because it involves the preparation of the dossier, working with experts, those who work on it, work with UNESCO. We now have several historical centers of our cities, so to speak, on the pencil". "It is obvious that these are the ones with a world-renowned historical heritage. At least this can be said about Chernihiv," Tkachenko noted.
Oleksandr Shevchuk, head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Chernihiv City Council, confirmed this to Suspilne. He said that at the moment, it is not disclosed which objects of the historical center of Chernihiv can be submitted for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
"Currently, changes are being made to the nomination to which we will be applying. A working group has already been practically formed, and later we will start preparing to submit all the necessary documents. For us, the procedure for submitting documents will be at an accelerated pace. We would like to do it in one year," Shevchuk says.
