Rocket attack Jan 26: Ukraine’s air defense downs 47 cruise missiles out of 55

Out of 55 missiles launched by russia, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 47, Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi reported.

"Terrorist state russia launched a massive missile strike on Ukraine. 

The enemy fired 55 air and sea-based missiles (Kh-101/555, Kh-47 Kinzhal, Kalibr, Kh-59). 

47 cruise missiles were shot down by the assets of Ukraine's Air Defense, 20 of them in the area of Kyiv.

The head of the Odesa regional military administration, Maksym Marchenko, reported on Telegram that Ukrainian air defense destroyed three enemy Kalibr missiles in the sky over the Odesa region.

"Air defense units shot down three Kalibr missiles in the sky over the Odesa region.

Fortunately, there were no casualties in the region due to the attack," the head of the region noted.

Marchenko instructed the heads of district military administrations to personally communicate to all region residents, explaining the current situation.

Due to the russian missile fire on January 26, two objects of critical energy infrastructure in the Odesa region were damaged. There are significant problems with the electricity supply in the region.

In turn, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhii Popko, reported on Telegram that on the morning of January 26, about 20 russian cruise missiles were detected in the sky over Kyiv: air defense downed all of them.

"About 20 missiles of various types were detected in Kyiv's airspace. All air targets were destroyed. We thank the Air Defense Forces," said the head of the military administration.

Popko added that a 55-year-old man died due to parts of the rocket falling. Two people were injured. They were given help; they were hospitalized.

Infrastructure objects of Kyiv are working as usual.

The administration also reported that the air alert lasted until 12:08 due to the takeoff of a MiG-31 fighter and an A-50 control plane in Belarus, which can carry russian Kindzhal missiles.
