Rubryka collected books for elderly and libraries

Rubryka decided to support the elderly during the war and collected books for the elderly and libraries.

Rubryka readers sent about 30 books to the editorial office, to be later handed over to the Kyiv municipal hub VcentriHub:Obolon.

The collected books have already filled the reader's corner.

Readers, students of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets, Vitaliy, and Oksana, were inspired by the material on the support of the elderly during the war and initiated the project.

Vitaliy says:

"I know that my grandmother often gets worried after watching the news, and it is not so easy to distract her. A conversation with relatives, a movie, or a book helps with this. But lonely older women do not always have access to them. That's why we wanted to help."

It should be noted that reading is one of the few ways available to older people to distract themselves from disturbing events and news.

The collected books should support the elderly residents of the Obolon district, who are frequent visitors of the hub, located in the yard among high-rise buildings where many pensioners live.

When we were leaving the hub, we met a local woman who was going there for a lecture on the Day of Unity of Ukraine. Maria Valentynivna is 65, and the news about the replenishment of the book corner made her quite happy:

"That's great! I will definitely look to see what is interesting there. I have already reread everything at home ten times, and new books are expensive."

From now on, in the book corner of the hub, you can read:

• "Fiesta" by Ernest Hemingway,
• "Vyvitryuvannya" by Artem Chapeye,
• "Zvorotniy bik suteni" by Dara Korniy,
• "Mozart 2.0" by Dorje Batuu, etc.

In addition, part of the books will be donated to the "Ukrainian book" charity collection so that more people can spend time with a book and relax.
