Germany will send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine — media
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz decided to transfer Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine.
Spiegel reports this.
According to the publication, it is about providing Ukraine with at least one company of Leopard 2A6 tanks. According to NATO standards, it is about 14 units of equipment.
It is claimed that the German Leopard tanks are to arrive from the warehouses of the Bundeswehr. In the medium and long term, additional tanks may be prepared from stocks held by the German industry.
As Spiegel points out, Berlin's decision was obviously preceded by several days of intensive consultations with allies, especially the United States. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized that he wants to supply Ukraine with combat tanks only in cooperation with other countries.
