Germany began transferring Patriot air defense systems to Poland

On Monday, January 23, Bundeswehr began the transfer of the first two of the three Patriot anti-aircraft missile complexes to Poland.

The Welt TV channel broadcast the beginning of a column from the city of Gnoien in Mecklenburg-Beast Pomerania.

Anti-aircraft complexes should move to operational positions in the area of Zamosz in southeast Poland, which is about 60 kilometers to the Ukrainian border and 110 kilometers to the Ukrainian city of Lviv. It should be noted that near the location of the complexes is an important railway reloading station for civilian and military goods intended for Ukraine.

The column of equipment from Germany is to overcome 1100 kilometers.

The Bundeswehr Soldiers have been on site in Poland since January 16 to ensure the installation of weapons systems with Polish Alliance partners. The units are integrated into the NATO airspace protection system on the eastern flank.

As explained in the Bundeswehr, the purpose of moving is to "protect the airspace of Poland and strengthen NATO's Eastern flank."

The Patriot battery consists of a fire control machine, a fire and fire control radar, electrical generators, and an aircraft missile carrier equipped with 4 to 16 rockets.
