UK to transfer over 200 armored vehicles to Ukraine

The UK will hand over 200 armored vehicles to Ukraine for free.
Foreign Secretary James Cleverley said this during his stay in Toronto, Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We must keep our promise to support Ukraine until its victory. That is why the United Kingdom has decided to move faster and do more in support of Ukraine, including providing our friends with a Challenger 2 main battle tank, heavy artillery, and more than 200 armored vehicles," Cleverley said.
The British secretary added that his country would also provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with another 100,000 artillery shells in addition to the 300,000 allocated earlier.
According to Wallace, this includes transferring to Ukraine:
- Companies of Challenger 2 tanks,
- AS90 self-propelled artillery systems,
- 100 armored vehicles,
- demining package,
- dozens of UAVs,
- 100,000 artillery shells,
- hundreds of "advanced missiles," including the Starstreak.
This week, Britain was the first to announce the transfer of its Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine.
The British government has confirmed the transfer of a squadron of 14 Challenger 2 tanks and about 30 155 mm AS90 self-propelled artillery installations to Ukraine.
Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak approved the plan to send 12 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine, and the first armored vehicles should be transferred immediately.
Therefore, the British Prime Minister calls on allies to deploy the support planned for 2023 as soon as possible to achieve the maximum effect.
As Rubryka reported, the Stryker and GLSDB will also be included in the new aid package from the US to Ukraine.
On January 20, the Ukraine Defense Contact Group will meet in the Ramstein format.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley will arrive at the Ramstein base for the meeting.
