Iran does not recognize annexation of Ukrainian territories captured by russia — Iran’s foreign ministry

The head of the Foreign Ministry of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, said that his country does not recognize russia's annexation of Crimea and Donbas.

He said this in an interview with TRT World, Rubryka writes.

An Iranian diplomat said:

"We oppose the war and resettlement of people in Ukraine. On the other hand, we recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries within the framework of international law, and for this reason, despite the excellent relations between Tehran and moscow, we do not recognize the separation of Crimea from Ukraine."

He also added:

"We did not recognize the secession of Luhansk and Donetsk regions from Ukraine because we insist on our permanent principle in international politics. When we say that war is not a solution in Ukraine, we mean it, and we believe that this is a fundamental policy, and we rely on it."

On January 17, the high-ranking Iranian official arrived in Ankara on a working visit, where he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Iran is providing military support to russia in its war against Ukraine by supplying moscow with kamikaze drones. In connection with supplies, the USA, the EU, and other Western countries imposed sanctions against Iran.

Iran and russia are likely negotiating an agreement on the supply of certain types of missiles. The head of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry, Dmytro Kuleba, warned that Iran would cross a "red line" if it provided missiles to russia.

The White House believes that in exchange for Iran supplying russia with weapons to wage war in Ukraine, moscow provides Tehran with an "unprecedented level" of military-technical support.
