EU backs UA civil society’s efforts to inform citizens of health and life threats due to russia’s war

Stop Poisoning Kryvyi Rih PU specialists and environmental safety specialists have developed a set of recommendations on how to protect from chemical and radiation threats and the safety of water use in emergency conditions. One booklet contains information on how to recognize certain gases, how to protect against poisoning by these gases, and how to provide first aid in case of injury. An algorithm of actions during radiation contamination is also described. Environmentalists have formulated advice on the steps in the event of a complete lack of drinking water: where it can be taken from and how to clean it. Volunteers and partners of SPKR distribute booklets in de-occupied communities and those closest to the war zone. This project was made possible thanks to the financing of the European Union.

"russia continues to use methods of terrorism in the war against Ukraine. In such circumstances, people should know how to protect themselves from man-made threats and help their neighbors. We distribute such information on the Internet and in printed form to those who do not have access to the network," says SPKR ecologist Anna Ambrosova.

Stop Poisoning Kryvyi Rih Public Union implements the project, "Public control is a way to protect the environment and improve the quality of life," with the financial support of the European Union. It aims to protect the environmental rights of Ukrainians and was reformatted to the new realities that arose in connection with russia's full-scale military aggression against Ukraine. One of the changes was a shift towards the fight for the environmental safety of Ukrainians because of russia's illegal actions.
