Ukraine’s foreign ministry reacted to media talking about Ukraine’s request for concessions to Belarus in EU sanctions packages

Media reports about Ukraine's alleged request not to include Belarus in the latest EU sanctions package are untrue.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleh Nikolenko, reported on his Facebook page.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that for supporting the aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine, a number of personal charges have been imposed on Belarus:

• the Lukashenko regime,
• military command,
• propagandists,
• 25 state bodies and companies of the Belarusian military industry (in particular, the Ministry of Defense and the State Security Committee, as well as 8 Belarusian companies),
• the central bank and four other Belarusian banks,
• prohibition of the supply of dual-purpose goods, services, deposits, euros, fertilizers,
• ban on cargo operators.
  "On the other hand, we are aware of the discussion between the European Union member states on the issue of further synchronization of the sanctions imposed on the russian federation. At the same time, according to our information, there is currently no consensus within the European Union. Ukraine and its partners are currently actively working for the maximum meaningful filling of the tenth EU sanctions package, the adoption of which is long overdue," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

Earlier, the mass media reported that one of the reasons why the EU did not punish Belarus on an equal footing with the russian federation in the latest package of sanctions is the request of Ukraine itself.

As Rubryka wrote, work on the tenth package of sanctions against russia was accelerated in Brussels. The member states want to adopt a new package before the Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv, scheduled for early February.

Belarus will also be subject to new sanctions for continuing to support russia's military actions against Ukraine.

In this case, according to one of the diplomats, we are talking about "synchronizing Belarusian sanctions with russian ones, especially sectoral ones, in those areas where Minsk cooperates with moscow in military terms."
